Sam Salman, age 63, passed away on April 30, 2014 at Emory Hospital after an aggressive battle with cancer. He will be remembered as a joyous person to whom no one was a stranger. He was affectionately known as “the man in black.” Sam was born on May 25, 1950 in Kirkuk, Iraq, to Daoud and Josephine Zora. Sam Salman, age 63, passed away on April 30, 2014 at Emory Hospital after an aggressive battle with cancer. He will be remembered as a joyous person to whom no one was a stranger. He was affectionately known as “the man in black.” Sam was born on May 25, 1950 in Kirkuk, Iraq, to Daoud and Josephine Zora. He graduated with his civil engineering degree from the Baghdad University of Technology. He married Samar Askar of Baghdad, Iraq in July, 1976. They moved to the United States and started Hampstead Lighting together in 1986. They relocated to Atlanta, Georgia in 1991, and have been here since then. They have two married daughters and five grandchildren. Sam was very active in the Free Masons, Scottish Rite, and York Rite. He traveled often and loved a good bottle of wine. His favorite activities were those that involved his grandchildren. Sam was preceded in death by his mother, Josephine Pola. He is survived by his wife, Samar; daughters Tamara and Brian Grasso and Nour and Nick Kelly; his grandchildren Jackson, Emerson, Lila, Bennett and Maddox; father Daoud Zora; sisters Thana' Salman, Nida Salman and Taghreed Salman.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 2nd from 7-9pm at H.M. Patterson Oglethorpe Hill, 4550 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta, Georgia 30319. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, May 3rd at 10:30 am at All Saints Catholic Church, 2443 Mount Vernon Road, Dunwoody, Georgia. Burial to follow at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mount Vernon Hwy, Sandy Springs, Georgia.
